The Story Behind Hanby Crafted Pens
Welcome to Hanby Crafted Pens — where passion, craftsmanship, and creativity come together to create handmade wood pens, custom pens, and unique handcrafted gifts.
My journey began many years ago in my grandfather’s woodshop, where I first discovered a love for working with wood. That early spark grew into a lifelong passion. Even while building a career in the business world, I spent my spare time in the workshop, finding joy in creating things by hand and exploring woodworking techniques.
After stepping away from corporate life, I returned to the craft that inspired me as a child. That path led me to the art of handcrafted pen making. Although years had passed since I last turned a project on a lathe, the moment I created my first pen, I was hooked all over again. What began as a hobby quickly became a deeply fulfilling pursuit.
Every pen I create starts long before the wood touches the lathe. I search for unique hardwoods, exotic burls, and materials with character, looking for the perfect piece that will make each pen truly one-of-a-kind. I experiment, refine, and handcraft every detail to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. Each pen has its own story, personality, and purpose.
At first, I shared my handmade pens only with friends and family. Their enthusiasm—and eagerness to buy them—motivated me to share my work with others. Though it was hard to part with pieces of my growing collection, I knew these pens were meant to be enjoyed, used, and gifted.
From that realization, Hanby Crafted Pens was born. What started in my grandfather’s workshop has grown into a small business built on passion, dedication, and the belief that a writing instrument can be both functional and meaningful. Today, I’m proud to share my handcrafted wood pens, custom designs, and unique gifts with people who appreciate artisan craftsmanship.
